Katherine von Drachenberg AKA Kat Von D, the tattoo princess best known for her work as a tattoo artist on the hit TV show LA Ink which was airing on TLC, has now added clothing designer to her resume.. Kat was born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, she moved to the States when she was four, settling in Colton, Ca. She received  her first tattoo came at age 14, an old english “J” on her ankle, a memento of a love gone-by. Shortly thereafter, realizing her natural art ability, in early 1996 her friends asked her to pick up the machine and get to work on them she knew the tattooing wasn’t easy but knew it felt right so she pursued it. In 1998, she began working in her first professional shop, Sin City Tattoo. Kat Von D is an amazing artist from personal drawings to photography even modeling and a makeup line for Sephora.

“The inspiration behind the line “I thought about my favorite love story of all time, which is the tale of Ludwig van Beethoven’s ‘Immortal Beloved’ – a mystery that even now has never been truly solved,” Kat says of the inspiration behind her fall collection. “When I put on the ‘Beethoven’ jacket, or the ‘Fur Elise’ pants, I feel tragically romantic.”

You would think with the punk rock princess she is there would be more gothess type clothing…her line is amazing , everything from distressed sweaters to military coats! There are two labels within the label! You have the White Label which is sophisticated and romantic. Then you have the Red Label which is flirtatious and fun! Sizes range from XS-XL in tops and 2-14 in pants.

She doesn’t do plus sizes. How is this even relevant?

14 isn’t plus sized in this or any other universe, actually. And I’d imagine that her 14s are the smaller “in-betweenie” sizes at best, not the larger 14s found in plus size stores that generally carry 16-26.

I find Kat’s clothing very interesting. It’s such a great idea about the White Label which is sophisticated and romantic and then the Red Label which is flirtatious and fun! All this in the same line. Awesome.
