This week’s Curvy Cutie is Heather Justice from Long Beach California
My name is Heather Justice and yes I am a proud pleasantly plump and possess enough sass and class to back it up! I am 32 years old, stand 6’0 tall, and rock my size 14/16 curves every day. I have always battled with weight. I was always the overweight kid in class, or the big girl hanging with my friends. I was tired of being told that I had a pretty fac e but just needed to lose weight. Boys didn’t like me. I was always “the friend”. It wasn’t until I got older that I started to feel comfortable with me. This is me. I am a plus size, educated beautiful woman, and I can do anything. My size stops nothing. I deserve and demand the best. I am a strong woman with a heart of gold.
Before Modeling:, I always thought the “pretty” model was the slender model. According to society Chunky and curves were for the kitchen. So women with figures like mine were to be hidden, if not banned until I got older and saw the confidence exuded by a full figure models across different magazines. Then I started watching Fashion Shows with plus size models. They were big women, with curves and they not only rocked their curves, the outfits they wore looked great. But most of all the audience admired them. This forever shattered the notion for me that an attractive model had to be slender.
From 2006 I started volunteering to model in small local fashion shows or different expos. In the early part of 20I0 after some major life changing events, I decided to focus on modeling and make it a career. I started modeling to help other women see that they can be plus size and look beautiful. Who said you have to be size 2 to be considered beautiful. Who said you have to be a size 2 to get a good man. I want to be an example to women to the world to let them know size doesn’t matter. And to show them that nothing should stop them from doing what they wanted to do regardless of age or size.
I signed with LA Models in the later part of 2010 and so many opportunities have come knocking at my door. I have modeled for Layne Bryant, Size Appeal, Fashion Bug, Forever 21.. and the list goes on. There is a plus size movement that is going on around the world and it is going to make a change. I want to be a part of that. I’m tired of living according to society’s standards.
I love to travel, I love languages and I embrace new opportunities and challenges. I look forward to what 2011 brings.
