Meet this week’s CURVY Cutie Shnai Arias.
You can catch me on runways, on magazine covers, on television and tearing down walls in the plus modeling industry. I am Shnai Arias, residing in Los Angeles, CA, currently working on building my Empire. All my life I secretly had hopes of becoming a model, but didn’t pursue it because of my voluptuous build. When I was 16years old, I was told by an agent that I had a pretty face, but that she could find someone with the body to go with the face. I remember sitting in front of the television watching the Miss America Pageant saying, ” I can do that!” Only for my comment to be followed by laughter of people saying I could not. I went on to become Ms. Nevada in 2002. I since worked in corporate America in such jobs as flight attendant, property management, as well as a soldier in the US Army. But nothing fulfilled my dreams as that of becoming a full-figure model and after her chance encounter with makeup artist and stylist Breann Smith of B Styles, my dreams became a reality.
With my past experience in travel, and her ease of interaction with others from all walks of life, my new modeling career proved to be a natural fit. Obtaining my education in Korea didn’t hurt either.Since that time, I have appeared on the runways, including FFF Week, print ads, websites and the cover of Curvz Magazine, Sophisticated Black Hair Magazine, Destiny Magazine and Stilt Magazine’s Model of the year. Even recently landing a role on the new TV series “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” starring Kevin Hart and was the only Plus Size model to be featured on VH1’s “Kiss the Runway.” I am also a mother of a beautiful two year old little boy who is also a model, he’s been signed with a prominent agency since 4 months, so I balance my career along with being a mom-ager. I love encouraging others to be what ever they dream. I have been waiting for this moment since I was 13 years old when my grandmother told me that, “my face would one day be on billboards. “I believe it, I receive it and I won’t stop until I achieve it.” I have went through a-lot to accomplish my dreams and I believe that when a door does not open, “Tear down a wall!” Believe in yourself and others will follow suit.
