Queen Latifah’s Single Ladies Premieres on VH1 May 30
Queen Latifah is executive producing Single Ladies, which details the love lives of three best friends, played by Stacey Dash, Lisa Raye, and Charity Shea. Tired of reality TV? The dramedy is VH1’s purely scripted series.
Queen Latifah is excited about the collaboration between Flavor Unit and VH1:
“My partner Shakim Compere and I are excited our production company Flavor Unit is working with VH1 on their first venture into the hour-long scripted series genre,” she said in a statement. “Single Ladies is a sexy and smart show… something that we feel TV has been missing for far too long and we knew VH1 was the perfect home for it.”
Stacey Dash plays Val, an aspiring fashion designer who’s looking for her soul mate. Lisa Raye is Keisha, an ex-video dancer looking for a sugar daddy. And Shea is April; she’s married, but realizing married life isn’t everything she thought it would be. As viewers follow them through their days and nights in Atlanta, they are asked exactly who has the right idea when it comes to relationships.
The two-hour “movie” premiere is Monday, May 30th at 9:00 p.m. and will include cameos from Queen Latifah (who will also show up later in the series) Eve, Common, Chili and Lauren London. Hour-long episodes start the following week.
