Barre Curve your Curves in 2014! Top 5 Exercises to Try

1. Dance

Dance classes offer a lot of options to work-out and get your groove on with classes like Zumba, Hip-Hop, Salsa and so many more.

2. Kick Boxing

Kick Butt in the New Year with Kick Boxing or Martial Arts classes.  It’s a fun way to get in shape, master skill and learn some defense techniques.

3. Yoga

Yoga has a lot of benefits – mentally, physically and spiritually.  I am looking forward to trying Vinyasa and Hot Yoga this year.

4. Barre Exercises

Barre Exercises are exercises done using the Ballet Barre.  According to my local gym, the Barre is great for beginners because it is the center for the regimen that helps with balance and coordination.  One myth is that you need experience in dance, however, no dance experience is required.  Barre Studios are popping up all over my area.  Are there any in your area?

5. Fly Gym Exercises

A friend of mine posted a picture of herself doing this type of exercise and I was sure it was not for me.  But, after visiting the gym and seeing all types of body types swinging from the ceiling, my confidence was restored.  I definitely want to give this a try in 2014.

The Bonus Try: Pole Dancing

Pole Dancing is one of those not-for-the-faint-of-heart activities that has more recently become popular as a way to work-out, similar to Belly Dancing. At first, I was not as interested in this option at all!  But then I started thinking about how fun and sexy it would be to try it, if only for a means of teasing the imagination for a moment, or two – for my hubby that is!

The bottom line is, it doesn’t matter whether you try one of these activities or if you decide to stick to a more traditional means of working out.  The only thing that matters is you are enjoying yourself!

Have you tried either of these?  Share a photo or your favorite exercise you have tried with us here at Curvy!

Be sure to check with your Physician before trying any new exercise regimen.

I’ll be doing three of these starting next week. My school offers kick boxing, yoga, and belly dancing (which I’m considering as one if the “dance” options :P). Very excited and frightened… it’s all so new!
