This past weekend I went to the Makeup Show Orlando. I was excited because I got to meet AJ Crimson, an exceptionally talented and charismatic makeup artist. He has two makeup lines! His first, Kissable Couture, iss a luxurious gloss line. His new line, AJ Crimson, debuted with creme foundations.
His new makeup line, AJ Crimson, is carefully crafted and hand poured into the jars. There are 8 shades in this core collection, ranging from light to dark, numbered 1 to 8. I was so excited to see a new indie makeup line.
I was fortunate to receive shade 1. It has a balance of pink, peach and neutral tones so it works to even out my skintone. It seems to hide flaws and enhance your natural skin to give you a ‘my skin but better look.’ Because of how these start out sheer and can be built up, I think they can work for a wide range of skintones.
After I’ve had a chance to use it for a few weeks, I’ll be doing a full review on it.
AJ did a demonstration during his keynote lecture, showing how to use 3 shades to even out the skintone, contour, and highlight. I was so impressed that I went back to buy a shade to contour with. However, the shade that would work for me to contour was #2, and it was completely sold out. I ended up ordering it so when it’s back in stock I’ll have it.
Since it is a creme foundation, you will need to set it with powder after application. When watching AJ work, he explains that he thinks of makeup as a stain, so you build it up as much as you want or leave it as sheer as you want. His results were beautiful!
If you’re wondering how to apply it, I would recommend trying a beauty blender or a sponge wedge, though you could also try a foundation brush.
These creme foundations were wildly popular and I believe AJ sold out of most of the shades at the show.
If you ever have a chance to hear AJ speak, I highly recommend it. He is highly motivating and encouraging.
Some products sent for consideration. Some products purchased by me. All opinions are my own.
