Samhain and Strange Aeons Halloween Collections Are Live!
I’ve got two awesome Halloween collections to tell you about today. The first is from Fyrinnae Cosmetics and the second is from Geek Chic Cosmetics. Both of these collections go on sale October 2, 2012.
Fyrinnae Cosmetics (a vegan indie company) has just released their Samhain (pronounced “sow-en”) 2012 Collection. It’s a collection of 8 eyeshadows and 1 lip lustre. Their lip lustres are unique in my makeup collection, as they’re a cross between a moisturizing, pigmented balm/stain/lipstick. Their Arcane Magic eyeshadows are very complex, unique shades that have multiple colors depending on the angle that you hold them. They also come alive when you use them with a foiling medium, such as Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy.
Mermaid Masquerade – Bright, rich, shimmering royal blue. Moved closer to light or at an angle, and it turns purple to pink, though still retaining hints of blue. Not lip-safe.
Mystical Hedgehog – Appears as a vibrant, shimmering purple with a turquoise-green highlight at a distance, but changes to a warmer purple to pink at an angle or close to light. Similar to, but still different from, our Faerie Glamour. Photos = rubbish. Not lip-safe.
Sultry Samhain – Stunning metallic bright burgundy, gleaming and sparkling with a bit of lighter pink. Closer to light or at an angle, and it warms to pink to a peachy-golden hue.
This shade, as with most Arcanes, think cameras are pretty darn funny. Second photo is close, but not accurate, to the way it looks near a light source.
Velveteen Werewolf – Complex whirl of lime green and gold on a shimmering brown base, graced with a touch of lavender sparkle. Moved close to light or at an angle, and the shadow warms to hues of peach and pink on rusty brown.
(“Given to a young boy on Hallow’s Eve, the velveteen werewolf simply wished to be real…”)
Bonfire Spirits – Smoldering warm red and chatreuse mingle in a deep base. Almost an Arcane, as the shades do alter at angle or with light changes, but not by much. The green is more apparent in person. Somewhat of a “vampy” earthtone.
Ethereal Eire – Varying hues of gold, blue, and green create a shade that appears silvery sage, but light reflects different hues. A versatile shadow, but not boring. Graced with a sprinkle of pale green sparkle. Named in honor of our chemist, who hails from the island. Not lip-safe.
Mischevious Sidhe – Brilliant, glittering, shining, semi-metallic gold. Yellow and rich like real 24 karat, with no beige or bronze hues.
Witchy Woodland Creatures – Glimmering, multi-hued taupe. Shades of copper and silver, with hints of pink, gold, and green shimmer on a neutral taupe base make this shadow suitable for a wide range of skintones.
Ghost’s Kiss (lip lustre) – Slightly shimmery “nude” with hues of copper and pink. Semi-transparent. Neither overly warm or cool, so it’s suitable for a wide range of skintones.
I’m very excited to see all the new shades and I cannot wait to swatch them!
Next up we have Geek Chic Cosmetics Strange Aeons Collection, (a vegan collection) which is inspired by HP Lovecraft. I am a huge fan of Lovecraft and the Cthulhu mythos, so any time I see something inspired by it, I get excited.
That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die.
Antediluvian – Burnished, aged gold with bronze tones and multi-colored sparkle.
Cyclopean – Deep teal on a charcoal base with green iridescence and multi-colored sparkle.
Eldritch – Deep olive green on a charcoal base with golden iridescence and multi-colored sparkle.
Daemoniac – Violet on a sheer charcoal base with multi-colored sparkle.
Antequarian – Glowing copper on a charcoal base with gold iridescence and sparkle.
Madness – Deep wine with multi-colored sparkle.
Non-Euclidean – semi-sheer black with strong rainbow sparkle.
Blasphemous – metallic silver with gold iridescence and strong rainbow sparkle.
I also created a quick video to show off how the colors sparkle in the sunlight.
As soon as I receive the Fyrinnae Samhain 2012 Collection I’ll be swatching it and doing looks with it. I’ll have looks with the Geek Chic Cosmetics Strange Aeons Collection soon, too.
